Fluid (called “drilling mud”) is used when drilling oil and gas wells to lubricate and cool bits, lift cuttings, and counterbalance pressure. Often, drilling mud is oil-based and produces strong, offensive odors like that of gasoline, paint thinner, or ether.

In urban drilling projects, these odors can cause complaints from neighbors, unwanted attention from regulation groups, and even heavy fines. When mixed into drilling mud, additives eliminate odor-causing emissions.
Odor Sources
Muds based from:
• Diesel
• Kerosene
• Fuel oil
• Crude oil
• Mineral oil
How to Use
Add the correct dilution quantity of additive to asphalt binders, fuel oil, and used oil fuels during transfer, storage, and handling processes. Unwanted odors are removed, even from burner exhaust.
